I had a thought that I'm not sure I'm going to remember when it becomes relevant, so I'm dropping it here so someone can remind me: When Lurker gets back to the main timestream, she's going to start adding people to her sending stone network; this could be implemented as an IC IRC chat, I think, if we want one of those.
(A reason we might not want to do this, or at least might not want to only do this: Lurker's sending stone network is going to be invitation-only. She's not going to be stingy with the invitations, exactly, but she does want to keep it to people with a certain degree of trustworthiness. There could be a second, more public one too, though.)

I have been vaguely intending to create an IC public IRC channel for a while now. Would there be interest in that?

I'm not sure what sort of problems you have in mind.

Idle question. How ought the forum to behave when connected to a network protocol that automatically enforces micropayments for information? Where as you browse their Wikipedia your browser automatically transmits cash, and when you post to it, you receive cash; and this is a sufficiently basic norm of the protocol that to deviate would be highly eccentric or even technically impossible?
The forum manifests in technically impossible ways all the time, so this is less about what is possible for it and more about what is natural for it.
Would it appear on the network as a proper payment-transacting citizen? If so, would other manifestations see any sign of these payments, or would they vanish? If the latter, would the forum maintain a hidden account, or simply synthesize the required money from nothing?

It would be a proper payment-transacting citizen, using genuine non-counterfeit payments. If getting the money is prohibitive, Mother Starlight might just pick a different medium with fewer logistical difficulties.
Maybe it could be structured in such a way as to be financially supported by the local users? Or maybe OTC could sell MS some local network currency.

Thanks.
Then I currently think that the MWF is sufficiently full of interesting information that it wouldn't have much trouble maintaining a net positive cash flow, so it should be able to participate just fine.
(Locals will be surprised to learn that other posters aren't subject to these same transactions.)
