Thank you very much Mother Starlight. I really wonder why the rosebushes aren't burnt anymore though... The rites called for ashes, not the virgins themselves... maybe because it needed to be hot ashes I accidentally treated them more like burnt offerings? That would explain it, burnt offerings are part of many rites to contact Tartarus and when the spell turned interdimensional it adjusted itself to sacrifice the virgins themselves, turning them into sacrifices to a being, which is why you had them in your possession, because they weren't actually needed to pierce the seal.
What do you mean with "jellyhead"?
In ancient times before ponies understood gravity and conservation of rotary momentum they found out magically that Lauren was falling toward the Sun(Which is normal, planets fall toward suns, but keep missing because of conservation of rotary momentum). They panicked and devised a great rite to make the sun and moon "continue to rotate around Lauren each day" Apparently that killed the star demon... or rather the star spirit, because back then the stars didn't hate ponies yet and did not want to exterminate them all, preferably along with the rest of the planet. Thankfully their moments are measured in millennia and all their plans have been easily thwarted. Until a young princess suffering from Cutie Mark Failure Insanity Syndrome decided that she didn't want to be just Princess of the Moon, but also Princess of the Stars, to "make her night sky prettier". Things didn't go well and the stars now had their most powerful member acting in Pony time and armed with a Pony Princess, one of the most powerful beings in all of Harmony. Her sister sealed her in the Moon with Harmony itself, but that broke her heart and closed her connection with Harmony. With no one to reinforce the seal it will in time be broken by the star spirits(I should probably stop calling them demons... they aren't really demons, just angry because in their view ponies "a short while ago" killed one of them.)
Anyway, if the seal is failing anyway why not risk, and only risk, breaking it early if it might depower the sealed enemy? Mh... She now had one thousand subjective years to grieve over her dead child... maybe she isn't planeticidal anymore?
