I have received a message from our ambassador. Apparently, the Technocracy currently believe that we are hacking one of their critical systems, overwriting large portions of their files with 'junk data'. Our ambassador has informed them, at my instruction, that they are likely interacting with a manifestation of an interdimensional forum (this place) which is occurring in an inconvenient way. This is not currently believed, with the result that the Technocracy are sending strike teams to attack various facilities used by the Peerage (in retaliation, and as an attempt to stop the ongoing 'attacks'). We deny responsibility, but are defending ourselves.
Given this complaint, and Argus' mention of 'the amount of data' I am inclined to suspect that their manifestation involves an unreasonably huge amount of data, which only Argus (assumed to be an AI) is equipped to respond to. Would it be possible to remedy this situation? Preferably soon, given that our factions are actively shooting at each other as a result of this?

"Stop the attack immediately or be destroyed." Well, that's not ominous or anything. Does anyone have any brilliant insights into what "attack" this is referring to or how we could go about stopping it? Dunno 'bout you guys, but I'm not keen on having any destruction go down around here (or anywhere else, for that matter).
EDIT: Aaaaaand beaten to the punch by the mad scientist. Anything we can do to help, Grigori and/or Mother Starlight?

This process of infection and disease related. Telephone, cable-TV, a Sergeant, and again... Three sixty-six thousand one hundred eight million one hundred and sixty-three million, five hundred and eight thousand, three, ten, five, alpha five hundred ninety-nine. The registry is the most important that you remove the database. Argus with a filter system to attack. Mother of light: the amount of data, which is higher than the upper limit of tolerance for the integrity of the file system. A serious mistake. I will return to this model of the brain. This system is for use in the home network. Note: If full. If you want to learn more you can lose if you wish to stop the attack immediately, or be destroyed. ... This sounds vaguely threatening, but I suspect that what Argus is actually trying to say is that the forum is DDoSing him/her/it/them. Edit: Note to self: Many-worlds residents are faster than your cryptic poetry companions.

Yikes.
I've temporarily disconnected Darkness. I'll hook them back up once I figure out what happened and fix it.

OK, I think I've got it.
What I think happened is that the autoconfig decided that the Grid was the most natural place for the forum to connect to, but (I'm less sure about this part) the relationship between the Grid and the regular Internet is two-way, and a reflection of the Grid site showed up in a way that caused a mess for Argus.
I've reconnected the forum to Darkness, through the Internet rather than the Grid. If I'm right about what's going on, it should still be available through the Grid as well, but the non-Grid side should be a regular website instead of spraying all over Argus's bureaucracy.
Sorry for the mess.

I confirm that this is the case; the forum is now accessible from the mundane Internet.
There were a few brief skirmishes; but as both of our factions have a vested interest in not doing big obvious destructive things, the fighting didn't get too bad before access was cut off, which ended the 'attack' from their perspective. Negotiations ensued, and are ongoing; the fact that I should now be able to point them at this site (and Argus' posts) should help.

I hope they don’t take your knowledge of the posts as further evidence you hacked their systems.

They're paranoid, but not completely unreasonable... and we've got some pretty good diplomats (the Directors are include a disproportionate number of social scientists; their Mania-based talents extend to 'people stuff').

We have examined this website; comparison with data stored on our servers supports the interpretation of events proposed by the representative from the Fellowship for Manifest Direction. Additionally, responsibility for the attack seems to have been claimed by the website's administrator, user "Mother Starlight", who further claims that it was accidental. Accordingly, we provisionally accept that the recent attack on our servers was not the responsibility of the Peerage.
We are reevaluating our security procedures in the wake of this attack. Further contact will be considered following a revision of our procedures.

Well, that sounds fine, but you do realize that you don't need to use MIME syntax on this forum, right?
