Bahahahahahahahaha.
I calculate my totals with my spreadsheet, so barring typos I'm pretty sure they're right.

Me too, and I think my spreadsheet is less likely to have typos (EDIT TO CLARIFY: because I didn’t do any actual typing, just the various text to columns functions) but doesn’t have all the information of Kappa’s (EDIT TO CLARIFY: because it’s not all available in the same table).

Does yours have any information mine doesn't, Daniel?

No, but you hadn’t released yours when I made my spreadsheet. I just have columns for price, MP, spell name, and description; it was made from my PMed catalog which has a slightly different format than the one here.

Heh, I'd better update my catalogue with all the spellbooks Miles just bought them out of and/or discovered they had no stock left... XD

Heh. Andrew didn’t have that problem. I guess I got there first.

Okay, I think I have the spreadsheet properly updated.
By the way, what are the temp/perm/inst properties of the unlisted spells? And does anyone want to help me get spell descriptions written in for anything that doesn't have one?

I think all the unlisted spells are scribe magic, minor planar ally, major planar ally. Scribe magic is instantaneous but has a longass casting time. In the default case, minor/major planar ally are temporary/instantaneous like shape metal: they don't happen instantly and can be dispelled during that time, but once they're complete, the effects persist nonmagically. With permanency they're interchangeable (even the gp cost for permanency is the same): the time limit is simply removed, but the spell still discharges and ends when the deal is completed.

How does the longass casting time for scribe magic work, exactly? Do you just not sleep for days or whatever concentrating on this spell, or...?

You work on it for eight hours a day, and most people don't have enough mental stamina to do anything productive with the remaining time.

Aha.

On second thought, I don't like that; I said earlier that the speed depends on work ethic, so there has to be flexibility in how much you work on it. You have to know scribe magic before you start, the total number of hours you spend working on it equals the spell's mana cost, and you have to cast scribe magic at the very end. It has to be all one person who does the writing and casting.

So you spend a vast number of hours scribbling in a book and then cast a spell on the result, or...?

To make future updates easier, here’s a sed script for converting the generated lines from the updated catalog to the availability column of the spreadsheet. If you do not have sed on your computer, here is an ideone page which will run the same script as well as some documentation for how the sed script works (although probably not enough if you aren’t familiar with sed). sed -r -e 's/^-.*/N/' \ -e 's/^\+.*/Y/' \ -e 's/^x.*/X/' \ -e 's/^ +[[:digit:]].*/S/' -e '/^ .*/d'
