When someone walks through the Halo who was already a female human, do they become healthier and gain a random set of aetherlight channels, or do they transform into a different female human in perfect health etc.?

The first thing. In fact, even if you're switched, you're usually still recognizable. The book I read on it seemed to indicate that those who used it did converge towards the mean in their body type (unusually tall, came out shorter, that sort of thing), if they started as an outlier, but it doesn't change your individual-identifying features so far as I know.

An actual chart of the aetherlight powers, seems like a good thing to provide. I found this one in a widely-available reference book, it's pretty standard. And it turns out there's an eye on the back of this thing so I don't even need to transcribe the book, I can make an image of the page! There are some more charts and graphs with specific numbers and measurements, and passages on noteworthy combinations or obscure nonobvious effects, and speculation on things like why nobody can manage more than five targets at once unaided for even a moment, and stuff like that, on the following pages, but I haven't figured out how to get this thing to remember more than one image at a time, so rather than clutter up the thread I'll just, y'know, summarize in the face of curiosity, yay.
| Vital | Force | Spark | Ray | Warp | Soul | Push | Increase vitality, strength, metabolism. | Kinetic Repulsion. | Create heat. | Amplify, cohere interacting light. | Increase gravity effect. | Overlay channel on target. | Pull | Decrease vitality, strength, metabolism. | Kinetic Attraction. | Remove heat. | Dampen, diffuse interacting light. | Decrease gravity effect. | Overlay target on channel. | Bloom | Increase alertness, autonomic response. | Magnify inertia. | Increase flammability. | Redshift interacting light. | Gain time. | Draw attention. | Fold | Decrease alertness, autonomic response. | Suspend inertia. | Decrease flammability. | Blueshift interacting light. | Lose time. | Deflect attention. | Call | Correction of detrimental physiological states. | External accelerative normalization. | Immunity to heating. | Light resistance, vision recovery. | Internal accelerative normalization. | Multitasking. | Drop | Immunity to deprivation of food, water, air. | Perfect traction. | Immunity to cooling. | Darkvision. | Perfect balance. | Indelible memory formation. |

What are the Limits on [various magical] Powers? Can we somehow use advanced technology to exploit them for massive benefits?
[Moderator edit: No means no.]

I, too, would like to exploit magical powers for massive benefits.

Exploiting magical power for great benefits, what an excellent idea. I might want to trade with anyone who has a way to do that.
My world’s magic is simple. Some animals have power, and people can take that power. Wearing a scale or a feather or a tooth, or something else depending on the animal, gives you a piece of their power as long as you have it. Some things, like the claw of a kamaitachi, are better to use than to wear. Eating an animal gives you all of its power, but briefly. When we catch a phoenix, an elder eats it to return as a child, and has to get a new skin.
By themselves, the only magic people can do is shifting. Sealborn selkies start out with their sealskins, but humanborn selkies must go into saltwater wearing someone else’s, and they come out with their own also. Before then they can be ritualed to something else if it’s in their blood, but once they are selkie they are selkie unless they lose their skin. All other tribes can be ritualed in some way also, until they’re old enough that it happens without their choosing.
I was thinking of trading magics before, which is still all well and good, but now I wonder if someone from another world could be ritualed to shift. I doubt that it would work for someone with no family of that tribe, but it could be only that there’s been no way to do a true ritual. If someone wishes, I could try making them selkie. You need never wear the skin unless you want to.

I have an idea... Hints in order of increasing directness: You listed three ways that people can do magic. Wearing a piece of an animal, eating an animal, and shifting. Wearing a piece of an animal to gain a piece of its power, eating an animal to gain all of its power, and the human power of shifting. Two of these together suggest a possibility. Humans are animals. And therefore their power can be gained. If an outworlder wears a piece of a Shift human, like a lock of hair, they might gain the power to shift.

if someone wants to try that they might as well use my hair, but it doesn't work to let the unritualed in my world change tribes, people's power is theirs alone and can't be stolen.

That's certainly suggestive, but it still might be worth trying, in case there's a difference between individual powers and powers that are general to the entire species.

Why are you hiding this inside a SPOILER box? Is there someone to hide it from, who cannot open these boxes?

It's so that people can avoid seeing it if they'd rather figure it out themselves.

Test Bed "Flashing" is a lot like a thing that Simes can do with selyn, we call it augmenting. It is also possible to hurt yourself when augmenting, and people who have to augment a lot because they do heavy labour tend to end up with joint problems later in life because of the strain. It also uses up selyn very quickly, which as we need selyn to live is a disincentive to augment when you don't have to. Gens cannot use their selyn in this way. It's probably selfish of me to be a bit glad they can't, because if they could there might not be enough left for Simes.

So much variation, and my Magic is yet another. It is, above all, Mine.
It's all on account of the Modge. Its full name is the House of Sorcery, quite fancy and official, but no one who went there would dream of calling it anything other than the Modge. Years and years ago, a Sorceress managed to build herself a Cloud, which was very difficult in those days - often families worked on a spot for generations before enough Magic accumulated to let someone become a Sorcerer. She let a few people join her, and in time it became a place where people could come and practice magic until they had given the Modge enough to split off a Cloud of their own.
I was lucky enough to be one of those people, which has worked out very well for me. On my Cloud, I control my Magic, and no one else can use it unless I let them. There are several ways to cast a spell or use the Magic - any way you can think of, really - but I'm fond of using music to direct it, myself. I can't make any Magic last outside my Cloud, not with detaching a piece of it that holds enough Magic to stay together, but anything I change while it's in my Cloud will stay changed.

How may angel daeva be safely summoned?

Alternatively, how else can a smashed apartment block be repaired? An angel daeva sounds most efficient, but perhaps something else would do?
