Leaf and a person hacking Prism's account have been corresponding via PM for a while, and I kind of want to make this available for reading by more people than me and Aestrix, but I don't want to just copy/paste seven pages of PMs because that sounds like a huge pain. Does this forum software have a way to export PMs, does anyone know?

In-character PMs sent now also include one to Andrew asking about summoning procedures.

I have one to Gray Librarian about SCPs 1986 and 1726 about whether they might be L-space or Library related.

Most of my PMs have been OOC about the books Andrew conjured and bought. I also sent an IC reply to Leaf and had a brief half-IC conversation with Mother Starlight about translating Andrew’s conjured book to English.

I don't see a way to bulk-export like that. Copy/paste might be the best way. Or, if you don't care about ugliness, you might tell your browser to save the page.

If you click the settings icon in the menu (the same place as for manually linking and unlinking accounts), one of the options is to export your member data. This will send you an email with a link to all your public posts, and if you go to the settings page again you’ll get a link to your PMs. Both are in CSV format.

Actually, you get two separate emails (one for conversations, one for public posts); I just didn’t see one of them.

Mother, can you make a new Subforum called ICPM? We could put In Character Private Messages in there to have plot relevant PMs where the audience can see them and we can craft them into their own narratives. So the Audience would know when I lie even if the characters don't.

I’m not sure I agree that this is a good idea. I think the export script would be a better way to go. It might work, though.
EDIT: I’m not saying I disagree either. I just haven’t thought about it and don’t want it to just be done without more discussion.

I do like using the forum PM system for in-character PMs. I really want a nice convenient export script, I wish my brain would let me write one.

What would be a convenient format to export to? PHPBB bbcode for posting on Alicornutopia, Dreamwidth-compatible HTML for posting there, a Google doc, or what?
Probably the easiest to do is standalone HTML or DW-compatible HTML. The one Mother Starlight uploaded does most of the work for either but the bbcode to html conversion is a bit rushed. Unfortunately, you can’t call the proboards official one without actually being on the website, but it should be easy to write a simplish one.

Conceivably, exporting to proboards BBcode to be posted in backstage threads here might be even easier and would be an all-right way to publicize them. Maybe not optimal, but all right.

But if as a reader I want to read this Forum as a story I don't want to branch of into Google docs. I want to know what sort of PM important PM storylines there are. I don't even know about your elf-rebel, except from the Miles and Ivan thing and it's an Aestrix character!

I strongly prefer "use forum PM function and then export PMs to be displayed somehow" over "use a subforum as PMs" - the subforum would eat the recently updated threads page, for one thing, if any significant amount of PMs were going around. But I'm not opposed to displaying the exported PMs in backstage threads.
