Sometimes there is an unusually busy day and forbidden knowledge gets through the censors that are in place for our protection, and sometimes they allow it through if they need something to charge you with. The Biography of Sean Penn a biography of an actor and film director. It's title is Sean Penn: his life and times, and it's by Kelly Richards. I chose it because I know for sure it isn't forbidden, because there's a copy of it in the private library. I just don't have access to the building.

I got permission to share some pre-Fall materials from my world. Most of it's in the public domain, or should be. I had to do some compression to get them to fit into the data limit (seriously, what kind of archaic thing is that?), but hopefully the forum will be able to convert them properly. If it can't, I probably get some not-entirely-horrible text-only versions, but it may take a while. [Attached: Before the Fall: A History of the Last Two Centuries, Jaxon Kimbrough] [Attached: The Second Dark Age: On the Collapse of Centralized Networking and the Development of the Mesh, Nadia Ventre] [Attached: The History of Earth (Author unknown)] [Attached: A Brief Examination of Uploading and the Ramifications Thereof, Gildan Leven] [Attached: Icarus: Early Cybernetic Development, Taamir Zaidi] [Attached: On the Genesis of Biomodification, Taamir Zaidi] [Attached: Men in Black: What We've Learned From the Leaked Covert Augmentation Research, Taamir Zaidi] [Attached: Conspirators and Insurgents: What We Know, and Some Theories Regarding What It Means, Taamir Zaidi] [Attached: From Ape to Angel: An Attempt at a Impartial Look at the Uplift Projects, Taamir Zaidi] [Attached: God From The Machine: Regarding Advanced AIs, Taamir Zaidi]

They come through pretty readably for me.

None of them come through for me, but I think the problem is on my end.

Dotted Lines, do you think text versions would help, or is this related to the forbidden knowledge you have mentioned? (For that matter, how is that category defined?)

I think it wouldn't help. It is probably being blocked on my end for my protection. Forbidden knowledge is whatever knowledge the City Council or Secret Police believe citizens should not know. This includes books that have not been specifically approved, many types of technology; and knowledge of the secret operatives that operate here, and knowledge of the angels which would live in our town, if, hypothetically, they were real, but they aren't, or their hierarchical structures.

I.. hope they have a good reason for doing that. Do you know why that information is considered dangerous, or is that in and of itself dangerous?
On the off-chance the format is what is causing the problem (it certainly wouldn't have gotten through the mesh security here without verification), I've attached a text-only copy of one of Zaidi's essays.

Some things are dangerous to know or speak about. I know that some forbidden things are dangerous to know or talk about, so the rest almost certain as well. I can only assume that the City Council would never ban knowledge or technology just to increase their power over the population or out of a tradition of silence and secrecy; because that would be wrong.
The attached essay does not open for me. Of the earlier books you posted, none opened, but the last 6 had about a sentence of text appear when I moused over the links. The essay doesn't do that.

Sometimes people do things like that even if they are wrong. There probably isn't a safe way to find out one way or another, though.
That -- the excepts -- is an optional feature of the original format. I find it very interesting that that part went through, however, even if I am uncertain what to conclude from it.

I am sure that all things that are forbidden are forbidden for good reasons, even though I can clearly see how everything is organized and dangers in some knowledges are not apparent to me, because the local government is absolutely ethical and never does unethical or corrupt things ever. I conclude from the excerpts' appearances that the officer from the Sheriff's Secret Police who monitors my internet did not think that the information in them was dangerous enough to be worth the effort of removing them. I think I will give up on finding books through here; unless I find out the title and enough other information of books that are not forbidden but not inside the library, and someone here has a copy they can and want to share.
@mother Starlight, thank you for trying! I agree it's probably near my end.

Understood. If you wish to further discuss governments or related matters, let me know.
If you find information on unforbidden books, I will see if I can find copies, but a great deal was destroyed in the Fall, so that may not be possible in all cases.
Mother Starlight: Damn. I was hoping you might have some insight. Can you tell any more what the problem on his end is, or whether those documents would actually (however unlikely I find it) be inherently dangerous on his world? I am uncertain how much information you have access to.

Great! I'm usually up for that but a lot of people don't want to talk about it with me.
Thanks for the offer! If I find out another title from the Private Library or somewhere else that is definitely not forbidden, I will write here and see if anyone has a copy of it!
