TO: Extraplanar mailing list
I'm sorry to write in with such a request before I've even introduced myself (or even properly checked if my receiving that subscription form was a mistake) but until yesterday I was absurdly busy, and now that... all that... is mostly over, I feel a need to be away from everything.
I'm among the most powerful healers for three worlds, but for the last while I've been doing little else but returning soldiers to the battlefield, over and over again, and I don't want to be around those who demanded it of me, for a while at least.
Is there anywhere non-hostile to orcs, non-hostile to tourists, and relatively peaceful that I could visit for a while? I have experience with first-contact situations and I'm accomplished at astral travel, so I wouldn't have to put anyone especially out of their way and I wouldn't need transport provided.

As a fellow healer (among other things), I can definitely sympathize with your situation. Unfortunately, my world is not currently a suitable place for visiting by interdemensional travelers, for several reasons, but I am sure there will be somebody who can help.

I'm not sure that D'ni would be the best place for a relaxing vacation, but I at least would welcome you if you wanted to come. I can't recommend the Surface, but in the Cavern you should encounter no worse than overly enthusiastic curiosity from humans who have never seen an orc, and there's plenty of room for solitude if that's what you want.

That sounds rough, Rain.
Assuming you're telling the truth about just wanting a vacation spot, and assuming you don't bring any hazardous magic with you, you could come to Meridian in my world if you don't mind dealing with the curiosity that would come with being an exotic novelty. But we get visitors from the continents in enough numbers that there's touristy stuff to do in Ascendant City.
Conveniently, if you tell people where I live that you're from, "a faraway place you haven't heard of" you'll probably be taken at face value unless, like, you're talking to a cartography nerd. You won't even have to explain you're from a different world, or, you know, get in any trouble if you decide to anyway.
What kinds of things are you picturing yourself doing?

What's the Cavern like?
TO: Test Bed
It was the worst thing, yeah.
Sleep or laze around somewhere quiet, for like, a couple days, and then explore, see the sights, be friendly with the locals. What's your currency like? Is there anything simple I should bring to sell instead of gold coins? What's your world like and what's Ascendant City like?

You wanna vacation? Go. To. Idznak. Those furry little guys'll liven up your day like nothing else. I'll get you a ten day pass in the Archlight Hotel, really relaxing and awesome swimming facilities. When you're rested the Evil Engine Nr. 9 next door will take care of all your partying needs and the Busted Vestibulum Park is half a mile away if you like roller coasters. You can bring a friend, but only one.
Idznak is a post scarcity society. It has regulated entry, you need a pass to go there and you get evicted when it's up, but while you are there you don't need money, everything's free. I can transport you if you target me with any kind of magic or tell OTC to send something to me. I'll give you a return spell that'll get you back into your world when you stick your finger into it.
You'd need to look into translation magic or bring a dictionary and a long novel to feed into a Toppled style translation effect. Or you could get one of those illustrated tourist guidebooks, but you'll look a little silly with that.

Cavern culture is pretty laid back, people hanging out and talking and exploring. Sometimes there are dance parties.
I should probably clarify that you wouldn't have to stay underground the whole time; there's links to parts of other worlds, and most of those are outdoors.
We honestly don't have much of an economy going, but sometimes people trade for stuff like generators. I don't think most people need more gold coins, but variety in food and clothing is always in demand.

You probably do not want to go to Gabriael's world. Gabriael's world is likely far too exciting and/or lethal for you.

You won't need to spend any money just to laze around somewhere quiet. You could stay with me and Lagakima for that, or if you don't mind small spaces and boredom and living on craftmilk you could claim a public berth in the city for as long as you want, or if you're close enough to count as human for fleshcraft you could carry a batch dwelling out to an empty spot and grow it there and own your own house. I'm happy to play guide, either way, but I should probably make sure you're not infringing on anyone's landplans if you do that last thing... We use coins, Loops, Spirals, and Helix. They're small, and I think they're made of rhodium. A spiral is sixty-four loops. A helix is thirty-two spirals. That's for everywhere except central Voisum, I think. I'm not sure off the top of my head if there's anything particularly good to sell, but if I remember right they do use gold coins down in Voisum, so you could probably find a currency exchange somewhere around the airship docks if you looked. I've talked a little about what living here is like in the culture thread, and I've covered C haeran magic in that thread, and I briefly talked about its cosmology in another thread.

TO: Ahrotahn
I've been told my dancing is "adorably horrible." Sounds like a nice enough place, though.
How in demand are generators, food and clothing, there? Because I have all those things; actually I have whole crates of surplus. If the need is urgent I could stop by to drop some of that on you even if I don't end up convalescing in your world.
TO: Dr. Realist
Thanks for the warning. What's up with that?
TO: Royce Bracket
Admiring buildings isn't my favorite thing ever, but that also sounds nice. Can you tell me more about what it's like there?

Can you tell me more about what it's like there? well, for a start, i know the city admins so we can give you an all-expense paid trip. there's gardens and seafood flatbreads and live entertainment. weather is by vote, so it's likely to be sunny unless the city's feeling bored or melancholic. not a lot of country, though. not a lot of country at all. if you don't mind staying in an unfinished section, though, I could make you a custom house out in Fairview.

He is very strange and his world apparently is just as strange as him. Not exactly your #1 vacation destination.

It's not urgent. We can generally get anything we really need, just not everything we want.

Your world is kind of kinky.
I'm kind of tempted just by the hilarious mental images I'm getting of how some of my people would react if they tried and succeeded at following me (which I don't think is at all likely, but) to your world. A lot of them would get so distracted, and a lot of the rest would just go "Nope!" and flee back where they came from so fast. Win-win.
Your world's fleshcraft magic seems infinitely less terrible that the kind I had to deal with a couple years ago. Is fleshcrafted furniture and the like as decadent as it sounds?
TO: Royce Bracket
That sounds like it might be a little more high-energy than I want, but I am curious. What would those paid expenses be for? (That wouldn't be necessary either. I am currently slightly ridiculously rich.) And what kinds of live entertainment were you talking about?
