The Many-Worlds Forum has inspired some glowfic. So far, these can all be found in Alicorn’s glowfic index even when she isn’t involved. This is a thread for discussing it.
A quick summary of what Glowfic is (spoilered for collapsibility):
First of all, glowfic is closed RP unless stated otherwise. Don’t go barging in with your own account in an existing thread without first consulting the authors and getting permission using some other channel. For example, if Andrew were to appear in a thread, I would first ask the other authors on Google chat about joining a thread.
These are threads where there are different accounts for the different characters, like in the MWF. However, these posts are all out-of-character: the characters don’t have Dreamwidth accounts, and the posts describe what happens as you would see in a novel. There are quotation marks, characters’ thoughts, actions like “He sighs.”, actions that cannot take place at a computer, etc. Like in a novel, sometimes there are long sections of dialog where there aren’t any words which are not dialog, but these are still in quotation marks. Unlike in a novel, the different accounts are still used, so these can go on longer without ambiguity (although there will usually be some action anyway).
Because all the posts are out-of-character, there is no longer quite a strict one-to-one mapping of characters to accounts. You might see accounts used by various minor characters which correspond to no particular character (this is especially true of the Pythbox account, controlled by kappa), you might see multiple characters doing things in one post, you might see one character impersonating another and using that other character’s account (although I think only if both accounts are controlled by the same author).
Most glowfic is not MWF-related. There are links to longform glowfics (many threads all part of the same story) at the top of Alicorn’s index, and a more complete index on Alicorn’s forum. Most of them are the primary fiction about their multiverses; you don’t need to read another forum to understand Effulgence, for example. Effulgence is heavy on fanfic-based worlds, so you might get more out of it if you know the relevant worlds (and you might want to avoid it if you are spoiler-averse); other glowfic also feature fanfic-based worlds but also have a higher concentration of original worlds.
