I can't seem to sort my spreadsheet to naturally fall into the same order as the pasted data anyway, so I'd still have to do manual checks.

I have most of a sed script which will give all the columns of the spreadsheet available in the catalog, but that doesn’t include material costs, permanency, or descriptions of D&D spells.

You know, the Dungeon setting seems to have pretty thoroughly engulfed this thread. XD
Relatedly: I can't seem to find where you discussed MP recharge rates in detail and I have a question that I don't think was covered - when you said it takes about an hour to fully recharge, does that mean if I have 100 MP and I cast a 50 MP spell and then recharge for half an hour, I'm full? Or would I only have gone back up to 75?

That was discussed here. The rate is based on your max MP, so you would fully recover with just half an hour. If, though, Leaf’d only spent 1 MP, I doubt he could meditate for 18.5 seconds to recover it. It probably takes longer than that to enter/exit meditation, and/or meditation needs to be in blocks of 6 seconds.

18.5 seconds XDDDDDDDDDDD
Okay. So it takes Leaf 8/13 of an hour, or not quite 37 minutes, to regain the MP used in a single casting of wish.
Hah, I should calculate starting max MP for Cordelia and Illyan, to find out how fast they can read magic the huge pile of spellbooks...

First one. It's proportional to max MP, not to missing MP.
I'll move the Dungeon posts to a new thread.

So you spend a vast number of hours scribbling in a book and then cast a spell on the result, or...? You spend a vast number of hours carefully scribing arcane runes and diagrams in a book. When you cast the spell, the lines writhe and flow until your manuscript looks like a proper arcane grimoire.

Oh my God, you guys, Cordelia's starting max MP.
According to a lowball estimate, her career in Betan Astronomical Survey netted her 760 starting max MP and that's before I add in any canon events whatsoever. (Canon events tack on 73 MP, for a grand total of 833.) Astronomical Survey started out at 2640 before I cut down a bunch of the numbers.

What the hell did she do?! edit: oh.

I pulled a lot of the numbers out of thin air, but it's basically plausible thin air.
+--+ Betan Astronomical Survey: | +-- 8 years, est. 5 missions/year avg | +-- est. mission avg 1 MP per especially terrifying jump, 3 jumps | +-- est. mission avg 2 MP harrowing per wk, 8 wk | +-- (* 8 5 (+ (* 1 3) (* 2 8))) MP | | | +---- 760 MP total
I don't know for sure that she was in Survey for 8 years, but it's a plausible number. Betan Astronomical Survey goes out along unmapped or poorly mapped wormhole jump routes, investigates the star systems they find there, and collects information to bring back to Beta Colony. It's not combat, but it's hazardous, harrowing, and takes skill and guts. In some social circles in the wormhole nexus, mentioning that Cordelia was a Betan Astronomical Survey captain will get her treated like a celebrity.
Edit: Yes. Actually, after confirmation that they routinely blind-jumped, I'm considering retconning my estimates upwards a little.

What's the "special order" spell mentioned in this post...?

Just be aware that this is firmly in "the only reason you survived all that is because you're the main character" territory.

Same spell, minor planar ally, but in that case the payment and delivery are in two separate castings a couple days apart and therefore the spell can't ensure that payment and delivery only happen as a single atomic action.

I mean, Betan Astronomical Survey is a career. An elite career, but people go and work at it and they don't all die before they hit forty, probably because of the stringent entry requirements and high standards for continued employment.
On the other hand, an argument could probably be made on exactly those grounds that anybody who makes captain in Betan Astronomical Survey deserves to be a protagonist even if they happen not to have had any books written about them yet.

I said that minor planar ally was not in the catalog at all. I think Kappa was talking about my saying that the spell they use for this forum was special order. That spell is planar message, which Mother Starlight told Andrew is part of the forum’s manifestation on their world. The “one which could be used similarly” is plane shift: it could be used for interworld trades.
