No, not really. I don't think so at least? How do you figure?

It seems like, unless it generates waste heat proportional to its processing power, it would function as Maxwell's demon. Even if you can somehow provide exponential cooling, you'd still hit Bremermann's limit. [[OOC: Attached copies of the linked articles.]]

Well, Maxwell's daemon wouldn't work. The problem Maxwell's daemon would need to solve gets exponentially harder at the same rate as my computer grows. The Bremermann's limit is kinda strange. The people who invented that probably weren't thinking about this type of computer. I mean, this type of computer still couldn't check all the keys one after the other, that's probably what that limit checks, but a big enough one could check them all at the same time and only give out the correct one.

Huh. I think the Maxwell's demon problem only grows linearly in the worlds I'm familiar with. Maybe you're running on different physics.

Actually the Daemon won't work even with infinite processing power, because you'd still need to measure the initial position of every molecule. In my Universe each molecule would exert a force on every other molecule, which causes the problem to increase in complexity exponentially. If your universe doesn't have the molecules of a gas interact with each other... then I guess there aren't any liquids and... It would need someone smarter than me to figure all that out. Also I guess you don't have the right interactions for quantum processing and are not made of wave functions and the whole computer won't work anyway. On second thought I shouldn't have expected more than one world to run on quantum physics... That stuff is pretty neat, but not intuitive if I had to make a universe from scratch. I should look through the thread again to look if anyone says anything about wave functions.
"I haven't studied magnets or anything, but couldn't you have a magnet shaped like a hollow spherical shell that's north on the outside and south on the inside?" Seems that we do run on wildly different physics(a solid guess across universes). Why would that even be translated as "Magnet"? Except, you know that they might have some similarity between them what with having two sides and attracting each other.
Are there more universes where individual elementary particles are clouds of Amplitude that rotate around an interaction space and... Er... mh... Let's try this: Do the smallest whole building blocks of your universe act like waves? If you send a stream of them with uniform velocity through two slits that are close to each other, do they form a pattern on a screen that catches them?

We have gas molecules interacting with each other and quantum physics and amplitude clouds and diffraction patterns in the two-slit experiment.
I might be wrong about magnets.
Maxwell's demon doesn't predict the trajectories of all the particles in advance, it just measures the speed of particles approaching the opening and opens or closes accordingly. So it needs fast reflexes, but not combinatorically huge processing power.

With this new understanding of the physics knowledge of Forumgoers something occured to me while I was in the bath. I got a wedding invitation and as I was converting it into antimatter I realized something:Mother Starlight, do you connect only to universes which contain the same kind of matter or who checked that no travelers between member universes would blow themselves up? Because something must have checked or converted or the coronation party would have gone BOOM. Also... A good humanitarian effort over the Forum would be setting up a kind of correspondence course for Worlds without proper schooling.

My connections are informational, not physical. I wasn't involved in the travel arrangements for the coronation party.

But you are the one who chooses which universes are connected to the many worlds Forum. You tend to connect pretty similar worlds, do you also check that all of them can visit each other without dying from incompatible physics? There are galaxies with Magical creatures and special magic systems that interfere with evolution and cause species that can't function outside that galaxy. Like the Po Ne, who turn mindless and die when separated from the source of their Magic.
That said, some Forumgoers are from pre-industrial societies, who made the space suits?

While multiversal travel can never truly be made fully safe, I have taken significant and extensive precautions to preserve the health and sanity of all Guests at my party. I'm not going to explain the exact security and environmental protocols put in place, since that would give people information with which to circumvent them: however, I will state that explosives, biological weapons, mental attacks, foreign magic, unusual or supernatural health risks, armed invasion, and many, many other scenarios were considered and guarded against. I would not extend my hospitality to the forum if I did not believe I had done everything in my power to safeguard my guests' lives, minds, and happinesses.

Good to know, I worried. Especially cause there are people on this Forum who don't understand how magnets work. So... who all is made of antimatter?
Is it some kind of rude to call people antimatter? Normally everyone calls their own substance matter and the other one antimatter, if they want to avoid confusion in local languages we use A-Matter(for Matter) and B-Matter(Antimatter). I'd offer A-Matter and B-Matter, but then it could get confusing if we get it different(English for some reason calls Electrons negatively charged. That's bound to stunt the development of technology by making grade school physics more complicated to teach.) unless you can check which matter I am currently made of. It's B-Matter, btw, what I call antimatter.
Also what's everyone's biology? What sort of Athmo does everyone need?

I don't have biology! Biology sounds complicated.

There's a biology thread. I connect people who I think might want to talk to each other, which often involves a certain degree of cognitive similarity; this is further compounded by the phenomenon of rhyming worlds. I don't check for physical compatibility; that seems like it would be a lot of work, and it isn't really relevant to what I'm doing.

I know, the biology thing was just an aside.
Buut Damn, people are lucky they haven't... Wait, what if QDS and certain other people who have stopped contributing to this Forum have done so because they tried to dimension hop and there was an exchange of air and antiair? QDS bought something with Anti-Zorkmids and was destroyed! Tony Stark is a likely candidate, that gurl could have made some zorkmids and they have blown each other up. She lived in a city of Millions... Oh, shit, seems as if this Forum has quite a death toll...
