Wouldn’t it technically be cross-testing between 3359 and 832?

Leaf pretty much assumed the Foundation was going to get zorkmids from the moment Andrew publicly posted that data. He previously urged Andrew not to help the Foundation get zorkmids (in a PM), so he's kind of miffed now. XD
On the other hand, as soon as he gets the right people on it, Leaf is probably also going to have zorkmids.

I barely registered the PM being more than an acknowledgment, which is why Andrew also didn’t answet his question. Andrew would have noticed that, though; I don’t currently have an in-character reason for disregarding the advice.

Archangel: Dotted Lines has a power that lets him see how things are organized, especially vague and menacing secret organizations like the Foundation, and also sometimes gives him intuitions about how they do things. Would you like this ability to apply to the Foundation, and if so, would you like him to say how they knew the people were singing the contents of the threads? ...it hasn't occurred to me until now, but technically Leaf works for a menacing organization, although it's not especially vague and somewhat less than secret - I refer of course to Barrayaran Imperial Security. Is this something Dotted Lines might pick up on? Do you want to go anywhere with that? Just a thought. Unrelatedly to the above except in that they both involve Leaf: I'm looking for an excuse to have Esthfora publicly mention that Leaf has a brother, but I can't think of one. edit because I didn't see DanielH's recent post until now: Damn. Um, maybe Andrew didn't see the PM until it was too late, for some reason...?

We have worked out the situation with Andrew: he thought the benefits outweighed the risks, but made a mistake in not contacting Leaf before publishing it.
Kappa, I’m thinking of having Andrew ask Esthfora if she knows of anything useful in Leaf’s or Archangel’s world. The context would be imply “useful to helping with the topic discussed on hidden board”, but the question itself would not specifically mention this. Would that work?

Yes. If you ask her in public, she'll answer in public but cryptically enough to probably obscure the subject matter to casual onlookers. If you ask her in private, she'll answer in private. She will answer the question correctly as intended even if it's very vague.
Archangel should OOC consult on which-if-any things she might mention from their world that Archangel hasn't fessed up to, because reading large numbers of SCP entries at a stretch degrades my cognitive function.

What I meant by “work” is would it get her to mention Leaf’s brother, and apparently it would not. It’s still something Andrew would ask, though. I’ll have him do that soon, but if there’s some change to his thoughts or wording that would get her to mention Mark, I would be willing to consider (but not necessarily implement) this change.

Oh, right. I didn't scroll up to look at the context, so I didn't realize this was Mark-related.
If he asks her the question explicitly intending to get information about things that would help with the demon hazard, he will definitely get information about things that will help with the demon hazard, and Mark isn't extremely useful in that regard. But if he is wondering about other things at the same time, that might bring up associations that lead her to Mark - say, if he internally frames part of the question regarding Nexus resources as 'things in Nexus that Leaf doesn't know about but would want to'.

That works. He’ll start by thinking about the black hole question, but will realize as he’s typing that she might no other things that people there would find useful or interesting, and will word and think about the question appropriately to that.
Andrew would find it interesting and useful that the current hypothesis of “non-summoners go to Limbo; summoners become daeva” is in fact correct. That, combined with his recent meeting of somebody from Inferno, would push him most of the way to thinking it would be good if summoning were public. This might or might not go anywhere, as he still doesn’t want to anger other summoners and is not as motivated by altruism as Revelation was.
Would somebody (like Leaf) who gained access to Dungeon magic after having minimal prior experience with magic but with many prior life-threatening situations have a nonzero maximum MP?

For the benefit of non-Alicornutopians: there's a narrative-format closed RP thread with Leaf here. (By closed I mean you should ask before joining in.)

(reply to Kappa about surprising Leaf with stuff)
Yes. This works very well.
Also, I was correct that Nifl would quickly gain Andrew’s trust. Even if she doesn’t want him to contact Leaf (he asked about it instead of doing it anyway because, once he knew they’d met, it seemed rude to do otherwise), she will have a reason he can accept which won’t lower his trust in her much. It might mean Nifl doesn’t contribute to Leaf’s spluttering, though.

I second DanielH's question about the maximum MP of someone who has led as interesting a nonmagical life as Miles's thus far.

I think I need to do a pros/cons type thing to help think about this. Shouldn't count | Should count | My first instinct is that that's the equivalent/counterpart to taking levels in a non-spellcasting class. | On the other hand, you could argue that this is their first interaction with something like a proper character class, which is why all future danger goes into boosting magical ability rather than something else, in which case they might have a bunch of unspent XP built up. | But they might not be able to earn XP until they have a class. | The rest of the rules I've established so far don't really imply that kind of discrete character-class type thing. | Miles's backstory definitely doesn't feel nearly as mage-y as Andrew's. | I'm not sure if that should matter. | ... | This is their first interaction with something like earning XP. That could be relevant even if it's not a class-based system. | But which way? Unspent XP, or unearned XP? | Other forms of doing magic count. Other forms of earning XP should too. |
OK, it counts.

Hmm. What guidelines should I be using to estimate Leaf's starting max mana, then? (3-6 MP per instance of serious combat, and he's been Naismithing around for five years but has not been doing it that solidly... I'm not sure. I'll think about it.)

I chose 2–3 MP for parlor tricks and dismissing daeva, and settled down to two so that I could say “Ok, he can now do these new things” later (there weren’t any spells he wanted that cost 4 MP). Miles has more adventure than Andrew, which seem to count more than exposure to magic.
